Italy’s Campania has seen a huge rise in interest this year.
Rome and Florence are the must-visit cities for any visitor to Italy. Now, many tourists are moving beyond these destinations in the summer and visiting other spots. One region gaining attention is Campania, where visitors can walk among ancient Roman ruins, explore cities built near active volcanoes and enjoy beautiful streets filled with old palaces, cosy cafes and historic churches. It’s a place to slow down and enjoy the moment, all while soaking in the region’s culture and beauty. Along with Campania, other Italian spots like Lombardy and Alghero are also becoming popular choices for travellers looking for unique and exciting summer trips.
According to Expedia’s 2025 Summer Travel Report, Campania has seen a huge jump in interest this year. Searches for this region went up by 210 per cent compared to 2024. One of the main reasons for this is its beautiful coastline bordering the Tyrrhenian Sea, offering clear blue waters and scenic views. The region is home to popular cities like Naples, Amalfi, Salerno, Positano, Pompeii and Sorrento. While these famous places attract many, the region also has some treasures, like the small town of Furore, where there’s a hidden beach behind a fjord that many travellers miss.
Apart from Campania, two other Italian regions are also receiving interest. Searches for Alghero have gone up by 110 per cent, while Lombardy has seen a 100 per cent year-on-year surge in interest. These numbers show that more people are exploring different parts of Italy beyond the usual tourist spots. Spain’s Gran Canaria and Alicante are also becoming popular, likely because of their sunny weather and relaxed vibe. Northern Ireland’s County Antrim is also trending, thanks to its beautiful coastline and natural spots.

Naples – The best way to enjoy the city is to walk through its narrow and vibrant streets. Naples’ historic centre is full of life, and the local food stalls serve some of the tastiest dishes.
