Keeping these issues in mind, agricultural experts are encouraging farmers to adopt organic and natural farming practices. Experts say that even with traditional methods, farmers can achieve good yields and healthier crops.
Dr NC Tripathi, an agriculture expert at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Niyamatpur, Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh, says farmers can achieve better crop production by moving away from chemical-based farming and using natural alternatives like mustard cake. Though commonly used as animal feed, mustard cake can also significantly benefit paddy crops. It promotes the healthy growth of plants, increases the number of tillers (shoots), and reduces the chances of pest attacks.
How to Use Mustard Cake
To apply mustard cake, fill the paddy field with water. Then take 5 to 7 kilograms of mustard cake, grind it into a fine powder, and evenly spread it across the field. This helps improve the growth of the paddy crop. Farmers can also apply it before transplanting the paddy seedlings.
