With two options available, investors may experience confusion about which is the better choice — IDBI Utsav FD or SBI’s Amrit Vrishti FD – for Rs 5 lakh FD investment.

IDBI Bank’s special Utsav FD scheme is available for subscription till September 30, 2025. SBI has also revised the interest rate for its special FD scheme ‘SBI Amrit Vrishti FD’.

IDBI Utsav FD vs SBI Amrit Vrishti: Fixed Deposits are considered as the safest investment tool that allows investors to park their money without any fear of losing while earning a regular interest. FDs work the perfect financial instrument for small investors who don’t want to take a high-risk like investing in the equity market or the bond market, which seems complex to them.

FDs are a popular investment avenue, especially for older people who don’t want to take a risk with their retirement fund.

Banks run special FD schemes that offer high interest rates on the capital than the usual normal FDs. These are of different tenures and maturities. Two special FD schemes—IDBI Utsav FD and SBI’s Amrit Vrishti FD, both with a tenure of 444 days—are currently open for investments.

With two options available, investors may experience confusion about which is the better choice — IDBI Utsav FD or SBI’s Amrit Vrishti FD.

Suppose an investor has a capital of Rs 5 lakh. He is confused between these two options.

IDBI Bank’s special Utsav FD scheme is available for subscription till September 30, 2025. The bank has recently revised the interest rate, with offering up to 7.35 per cent. SBI has also revised the interest rate for its special FD scheme ‘SBI Amrit Vrishti FD’.

Senior Citizens: 7.35% p.a.

General Investor:

If being a general investor, you made an investment of Rs 5,00,000 now, you would get a total amount of Rs 5,41,685 on maturity with interest earned of Rs 41,685.

Senior Citizen:

If being a senior citizen, you made an investment of Rs 5,00,000 now, you would get a total amount of Rs 5,44,720 on maturity with interest earned of Rs 44,720.

SBI Amrit Vrishti FD (Effective June 15, 2025)

Revised interest rate for 444 days:

General: 6.60% p.a.

Senior Citizens: ~7.10% p.a.

(Super Senior Citizens may receive ~7.25%)

Maturity Amount after 444 Days:

General Investor:

If being a general investor, you made an investment of Rs 5,00,000 now, you would get a total amount of Rs 5,40,145 on maturity with interest earned of Rs 40,145.

Senior Citizen:

If being a senior citizen, you made an investment of Rs 5,00,000 now, you would get a total amount of Rs 5,43,230 on maturity with interest earned of Rs 43,230.

At current rates, Utsav FD offers slightly higher returns than SBI’s Amrit Vrishti scheme for both general and senior citizen categories.
