Jilly Cooper, the author of Rivals, recently got candid and opened up about intimacy coordinators before the release of her comedy-drama’s second season.
While giving an interview to The Times of London, the 88-year-old English author was inquired about the role of intimacy coordinators following the remakes of Rivals star Danny Dyer, who said, “On Rivals, there are a lot of intimacy coaches. I think we used every intimacy coach in the land.”
Answering the question and reflecting on Dyer’s comment, Cooper quipped, “In my day when people were acting, they just used to jump on each other and roll around without having anyone telling them what to do. I suppose the world’s changed, hasn’t it?”
The author of The Man Who Made Husbands Jealous went on to note that she would not feel okay with intimacy coordinators if she were an actress instead of a writer by saying, “I’d be very embarrassed.”
“I wouldn’t like it myself, but then no one has any fun any more, do they?” she added with a question.
Moving forward, Cooper was questioned about what intimacy coaches do when they help plan extremely romantic scenes after Dyer, who plays Freddie Jones – a self-made electronics businessman – stated in another interview, “It is brilliant, but it is a mad thing to do a s*** scene. If you think about it, you are legally allowed to tongue someone else. It is part of your job.”
For the unversed, the second season of Rivals, which will consist of 12 episodes, is currently being filmed in the United Kingdom.
It is pertinent to mention that the forthcoming season is expected to come out next year on Disney+ and Hulu in the United States but there is no confirmed release date yet.
