Prince Harry’s emotional appearance following his court loss has sparked fresh concern over his isolation and future role outside the Royal family.
A royal expert noted that the Duke of Sussex looked visibly “sad” and “lost” during his BBC interview, where he expressed desire to reconcile with father, King Charles.
Speaking with The Sun, royal photographer Arthur Edwards said Harry’s words may have unintentionally closed the door on reconciliation with his cancer-stricken father.
The father-of-two “doesn’t seem to be having a real role now” as his wife Meghan Markle works on multiple projects.
“And I keep thinking back to that video he made when he lost the court case. And he looked so sad in that, so really down and not upbeat like he was normally,” he added.
The expert continued, “I feel somehow he’s having probably second thoughts. All he wanted to do was reconcile with his father.
“The thing is, if he’d only said sorry on that interview, ‘sorry, Pop, you know, I do want to see you’ – I think that might have had a different [effect].
“But in many ways, it was coming from his heart, I thought. His father is not well, he’s concerned – it’s his father.”
Edwards said he felt there was a change in Harry’s attitude during the interview. “I mean, I haven’t seen anything in five years. and then suddenly he comes out with that.
“I thought he looked so sad, you know, so sad.”
Before concluding, he said the interview was “one of their biggest mistakes,” adding, “it came from a place of anger.”
