Michael J. Fox is getting praise for deciding to resume acting as he continues to suffer from Parkinson’s disease.
Fox has resumed acting by taking a role in Shrinking alongside Jason Segel and Harrison Ford. In the show, Segel plays a therapist who ditches his teachings and begins telling people his real opinion. Ford plays his mentor who gets diagnosed with Parkinson’s.
Meanwhile, Fox’s last acting role was in The Good Fight and 20 years before that in Scrubs.
“Michael is so excited to be getting this chance to get back in front of the camera and do what he does best,” a mole told Radar Online.
“He’ll be reuniting with the show’s creator Bill Lawrence, who he worked with on Spin City, so it’s a beautiful full circle moment,” they added.
“Michael wouldn’t be taking this on if he wasn’t confident that he could handle it, but it still feels like something of a miracle,” they continued.
“It’s a testament to what a fighter he is,” the mole remarked.
Fox enjoyed a meteoric rise in Hollywood in the ‘80s with blockbusters Back to the Future and Teen Wolf, as well as the hit sitcom Family Ties. At the peak of his career and the young age of 29, the actor was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. He continued working for seven more years before taking a step back when complications increased.
Since then, Michael J. Fox has been a relentless advocate for finding a cure and a way to find out if a person is likely to developed the disease later in life. Through his Michael J. Fox Foundation, the actor has raised $2 billion for research on the disease.
