Metallica just solidified their legendary status with a new major milestone.
The metal titans achieved two RIAA certifications for two of their most popular albums, with their self-titled The Black Album being certified the monumental 20x Platinum, which depicts that the band has sold over 20 million copies of the project.
The Black Album has become one of the very few in the music industry to achieve this rare milestone.
Additionally, Metallica, who is one the Big Four bands in thrash metal, reached new heights with their 1986 album, Master of Puppets, which is now certified 8x Platinum for sales exceeding eight million copies.
For context, The Black Album was released in 1991 and made Metallica the top band in ten different countries.
Some of its renowned tracks include Enter Sandman, Nothing Else Matters, and Wherever I May Roam, that led it to achieve a remarkable best-selling album status of the Luminate era as it outsold every release, in very genre for over 30 years.
Meanwhile, Master of Puppets holds the honour of being the heaviest rock album selected by the Library of Congress for preservation in the National Recording Registry.
Its title track recently became one of the songs on Spotify to achieve the billion-streams status alongside Metallica’s songs Enter Sandman and Nothing Else Matters, becoming the second-longest song to achieve this feat.
