King Charles has only met Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s daughter Princess Lilibet once and son Prince Archie a few times.
With the Duchess of Sussex sharing glimpses of her children on social media, King Charles is said to be upset.
Insiders told Closer that the monarch, who is currently battling cancer, has asked Kate Middleton, his eldest daughter-in-law to help and sort things out.
The source stated, “‘It breaks Charles’ heart that he hasn’t been able to build a relationship with Archie and Lilibet – he’s already missed so many milestones that he can never get back.”
“The hope is that Harry will stop being so hardheaded and bring the kids over to spend time with their grandfather but, so far, he hasn’t made any moves towards that – so Kate is scrambling to find some sort of solution,” they added.
“This isn’t a matter that can continually be kicked down the road – with Charles’ health and the kids growing up so fast, time is precious,” the source noted.
However, they revealed that the only visible solution is for King Charles and his grandkids Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet to bond over ‘video calls.’
“For now, though, the only solution that seems viable is for Charles to start bonding with them over video calls. Kate is trying to make that happen and has spoken to both Charles and Harry about the possibility of setting up regular chats,” the tipster said.
Adding, “It’s not ideal, of course – but the feeling is that it would be better than nothing, and it could be a small step toward healing. She thinks Harry will regret cutting off his father if anything happens to him.”
It is worth mentioning that this comes after Prince Harry made a shocking claim in his BBC interview, saying that his father King Charles “won’t speak to him” amid his cancer battle.
He also noted, “life is precious. I don’t know how much longer my father has. You know, he won’t speak to me because of this security stuff. But it would be nice to. It would be nice to reconcile.”
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down from their royal roles in 2020. While the Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed Prince Archie in 2019, they welcomed daughter Princess Lilibet after leaving the royal family in 2021.
Reportedly, King Charles only and the first time met Princess Lilibet when Harry and Meghan travelled to the UK for the late Queen Elizabeth’s platinum jubilee in June 2022.
