Buckingham Palace breaks silence on Kate Middleton’s secret meeting

Buckingham Palace has opened up about the crucial meeting Kate Middleton held at Windsor Castle days after she pulled out of Royal Ascot.

Confusion was sparked when it was announced that the Princess of Wales, who is in remission from cancer, would not be attending the second day of the horse racing festival.

However, later Kensington Palace had confirmed she would not be attending after all.

The Daily Mail reported that Kate was ‘disappointed’ not to be in attendance ‘but she has to find the right balance as she fully returns to public facing engagements’.

Following this, the publication also reported, the future queen held a crucial meeting on Wednesday as she quietly returned to work.

The outlet reported this week Kate Middleton privately received Melinda Gates, the former wife of Microsoft Founder Bill, at Windsor Castle.

Now, Buckingham Palace has also confirmed Kate Middleton’s meeting in its Court Circular.

The statement says, “25 June 2025 Kensington Palace: The Prince and Princess of Wales, Joint Patrons, the Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales, this afternoon received Ms. Melinda French Gates (Founder, Pivotal) at Windsor Castle.”
