Bank Holiday Today: Banks observe closures on specific days due to regional festivals and weekends except the first and third Saturdays as per RBI’s instrumental holiday list. Banking plays a quintessential role in our lives. Our lives are impacted a lot on account of its closure as we are unable to carry on our usual work that is related to the physical branches of banks.
Banks will be closed for three days from tomorrow in certain states due to a holiday and weekends. Note that online banking activities will be resume as usual, allowing customers to receive and send money via IMPS, NEFT, and other mediums. Morever, they can utilize net banking or app to execute other activities.
Are Banks Closed Today On The Jagannath Rath Yatra?
Banks will observe the holiday on the occasion of the Jagannath Rath Yatra on Friday June 27, 2025. But banks will observe the closure only in Odisha and Manipur. It will be followed by bank closures due to the fourth Saturday (June 28) and Sunday (June 29).
Thus, banks will be closed for three days in these states. Apart from that, banks will be closed for two days.
The Jaggarnath Rath Yatra
The Jagannath Rath Yatra is a grand annual chariot festival held in Puri, Odisha, where Lord Jagannath, along with his siblings Balabhadra and Subhadra, is taken out of the Jagannath Temple in massive wooden chariots and pulled by thousands of devotees to the Gundicha Temple, about 3 km away. The event, which usually falls in June or July (Ashadha month), symbolizes inclusiveness, as people from all walks of life can participate by pulling the ropes of the chariots.
Bank Holiday In July 2025
The first holiday falls on July 3 (Thursday) for Kharchi Puja, observed in Agartala. This is followed by a holiday on July 5 (Saturday) for Guru Hargobind Ji’s Birthday, obsereved in Jammu and Srinagar.
On July 14 (Monday), banks in Shillong will be shut for Beh Deinkhlam, a prominent local festival. A few days later, on July 16 (Wednesday), banks in Dehradun will observe a holiday on account of Harela, a festival marking the onset of the monsoon. Again, Shillong will see bank closures on July 17 (Thursday) to observe the Death Anniversary of U Tirot Singh, a local hero and freedom fighter.
Next, banks in Agartala will remain closed on July 19 (Saturday) for Ker Puja, and Gangtok will see a holiday on July 28 (Monday) for Drukpa Tshe-zi, a traditional Buddhist observance.
Besides these, all scheduled and non-scheduled banks in India will observe routine closures on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month, i.e., July 12 and July 26, along with all Sundays—July 6, 13, 20, and 27.
