Air India Plane Crash Survivor: The mishap with London-bound Air India flight in Ahmedabad after take-off, causing the death of all 241 passengers, but a miraculous survivor has triggered an unusual surge – the demand for seats next to the emergency exits. Travel agencies and booking agents are experiencing a surge in demand from passengers demanding seats near emergency exits following the miraculous escape of Viswashkumar Ramesh, who was sitting at seat 11A – near the emergency exit – when the aircraft nosedived to crash onto the government medical college.
The mishap led to the death of all passengers, including ex-Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani, but the passenger 11A survived miraculously. The survival of the passenger of 11A seat is being referred as a ‘miracle’.
People generally avoid taking seats next to the emergency exits, because cabin crew give special instructions before takeoff to those in these seats.
Aviation experts told TOI that seats next to the emergency exits don’t offer any additional safety in case of a plane crash, as people assume. It may offer ample legroom, but not very popular among passengers.
