Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) reaching the finals of Indian Premier League (IPL), and winning the match against Punjab Kings, triggered massive celebrations in Karnataka, significantly boosting liquor sales in the state on Tuesday.

On June 3, 1.48 lakh boxes of bottled beer were sold, generating a turnover of Rs 30.66 crore. This is a substantial increase from the same date last year when only 0.36 lakh boxes were sold, resulting in Rs 6.29 crore in revenue.

The celebrations extended beyond beer. Sales of other alcoholic spirits reached 1.28 lakh boxes, valued at Rs 127.88 crore. In contrast, on June 3 last year, the revenue from liquor sales was only Rs 19.41 crore.

Overall, the state collected a remarkable Rs 157.94 crore from liquor sales on that single day. This represents an impressive increase of Rs 132.24 crore compared to the previous year’s total of Rs 25 crore for June 3.

This is RCB’s first-ever IPL win in 18 years since the tournament started. As RCB finally won IPL 2025, Bengaluru erupted in a sea of red. Multicoloured fireworks illuminated the night sky as fans took to the streets, chanting “RCB and Kohli” and ‘Ee Sala Cup Namde‘ (This year, the cup is ours).

RCB’s Victory Parade Today

Rajat Patidar-led RCB landed in Bengaluru today, and the team is set to celebrate with a grand victory parade in the city. The procession will start at Vidhana Soudha and culminate at Chinnaswamy Stadium – a 1.4 Km victory parade in the heart of Bengaluru starting at 3:30 PM IST.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will felicitate the team on the grand steps of Vidhan Soudha. “Yesterday, in the thrilling IPL final match, Karnataka’s pride, the RCB team, secured a spectacular victory and is returning to their hometown. On behalf of all Kannadigas, I will felicitate and honour the team today evening at 4 PM on the grand steps of Vidhana Soudha. The 18-year-long anticipation and wait of millions of fans have finally ended, creating a festive atmosphere across the entire state. Join in the celebration of this historic victory,” he posted on X.

Elaborate security measures are in place to ensure a smooth and celebratory parade. Three Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs), nine Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs), twelve inspectors, and dedicated traffic police personnel have been deployed for the parade. To manage the crowd and traffic flow, restrictions are likely around CTO Junction and Coffee Board Junction.

Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium is likely to have free entry for fans, though it is yet to be announced.

On Tuesday, after winning the IPL final match against Punjab Kings, Virat Kohli, who has been with RCB for 18 years, said he was looking forward to celebrating the victory with Bengaluru. “I’m going to feel the real side of it when we get to Bengaluru tomorrow and celebrate this with the city,” he said after the match.
