HUL CEO Rohit Jawa's Salary Rises to Rs 23.23 Crore in FY25

Hindustan Unilever Ltd (HUL) Managing Director and CEO Rohit Jawa received total remuneration of Rs 23.23 crore in FY25, a 3.75 per cent increase from the previous financial year, according to the company’s latest annual report.

His compensation comprised Rs 3.65 crore as salary, Rs 11.45 crore in allowances, Rs 3.78 crore as a bonus, and Rs 2.76 crore in long-term incentive-based perquisites.

Pay Gap with Employees

Mr Jawa’s remuneration was 146.47 times the median salary of HUL employees in FY25, a slight decrease from 153.03 times in FY24.

Employee Headcount Drops

The annual report indicates an 8.46 per cent decline in permanent employees. As of 31 March 2025, HUL had 6,604 employees, down from 7,215 a year earlier.

Despite this reduction, the median employee salary increased by 8.39 per cent during FY

The average salary increase for non-managerial staff was 4.62 per cent, excluding promotions.

CEO’s Outlook

Rohit Jawa said the company experienced “moderation in urban demand and a gradual recovery in rural consumption” during FY. He emphasised HUL’s commitment to driving volume growth and maintaining competitiveness.

Chairman’s Remarks

HUL Chairman Nitin Paranjpe acknowledged a challenging business environment stemming from uneven weather, volatile commodity prices, and subdued consumer sentiment. However, he expressed optimism about India’s long-term growth prospects, fuelled by a growing middle class, a young working population, and expanding digital infrastructure.

“These new dynamics present a significant opportunity for the FMCG sector,” he said.

HUL Acquires Minimalist, Divests Pureit Water Business In FY25

HUL acquired premium skincare brand Minimalist to bolster its beauty portfolio.

The company divested its Pureit water business.

It also announced plans to demerge its ice cream business, including brands such as Kwality Wall’s, Cornetto, and Magnum.

Financial Highlights

HUL reported a revenue of Rs 60,680 crore for the financial year 2024-25, with a profit after tax of Rs 10,644 crore. The company maintains its focus on evolving consumer needs and digital transformation, underpinned by a strong brand presence with products like Surf Excel, Dove, Lux, Pond’s, Rin, Horlicks, Bru, and Lipton.

Other Indian CEO’s Salary

K Krithivasan, CEO and MD of India’s largest IT services company Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), earned total compensation of Rs 26.52 crore in the financial year ending March. This represents a 4.6 per cent increase from Rs 25.35 crore the previous year, as disclosed in the company’s latest annual report.

His remuneration included a salary of Rs 1.39 crore, up from Rs 1.27 crore in the prior year, along with Rs 2.12 crore in benefits, perquisites, and allowances. A commission of Rs 23 crore constituted the largest component of his pay.

In comparison, HCLTech CEO C Vijayakumar earned Rs 84.16 crore in FY24, making him the highest-paid Indian IT CEO, followed by Infosys’ Salil Parekh at Rs 66.25 crore and Wipro’s Srini Pallia with a package of approximately Rs 50 crore.
